Los Cabos, BCS.- The Governor of Baja California Sur, Victor Castro Cosío, spoke today on the possibility of building another International Airport in Baja California Sur, with this new airport located to serve the northern regions of the state.
“A new international air terminal in the northern regions of the state would directly benefit all of the communities of the Pacific areas south of the 28th parallel”, said the state Secretary of Tourism and Economy (SETUE), Maribel Collins Sánchez.
“The Governor has spoken; he wants to kick start tourism and the economies of the northern areas that would greatly benefit from such a project. Airline access is the only element lacking for those areas to be able to better compete for tourism,” she remarked.

The northern regions of the state encompasses much of the Mulege Municipality and includes Bahia Tortugas, Guerrero Negro, Bahia Asuncion, La Bocana, Punta Abreojos and Vizcaino.
Collins Sanchez mentioned some of the attractions of the area including “cave paintings, sportfishing, whales and other marine life, the largest salt mine in the world and the historic missions; so much to offer the world.”
She went on to add, “I think that the Governor wants to reduce the economic gap that currently exists between the northern and southern regions of the state where up until now, the southern regions have been on the receiving end of most of the investment and development,” she pointed out.
Such an airport located in the northern region of BCS would undoubtedly benefit Bahia de Los Angeles as well, just across the northern state border line.
