Mexico: Te llevo en la piel…

There are so many reasons why I love this amazing place I have called home for the last 20 years; the beaches, the weather and lifestyle with a rich history and traditions that through the centuries have evolved to form the culture that today is experienced through the food, art, dance and music that is only Mexico.

The kind and generous people here are Mexico’s greatest treasure of all, a proud community that warmly welcomed me into their homes and lives like a brother from another mother so many years ago, helping to mold me into the man I am today.

And where I would find Cristina, a treasure more valuable than all of the Aztec’s gold.

Sometimes I like to think that I made my mark on some level here in Mexico, but along the way she has nearly completely transformed me in the process. Today, I hardly recognize that younger version of myself who arrived here on the Baja Peninsula, so many years ago with his priorities all out of whack.

And still at times, I get so busy that I forget to just stop and remember how very fortunate I am in this life I made in Mexico.

Until a I hear a song that always reminds me how much this country has become such a big part of me…
