    For the eastern North Pacific…east of 140 degrees west longitude:

    1. Central East Pacific: A small area of low pressure located a few hundred miles south of the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Some slow development of this system is possible over the next couple of days as it moves northwestward then westward, well offshore of the coast of Mexico. By midweek, cooler waters and dry air should end the chance for any further development.

    * Formation chance through 48 hours…low…20 percent.
    * Formation chance through 5 days…low…20 percent.

    2. Western East Pacific: An area of low pressure associated with the remnants of Ivette continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Some slow development of this system is possible over the next day or so as it moves generally westward, well east-southeast of the Hawaiian Islands. After that time, environmental conditions are expected to become unfavorable for further development.

    * Formation chance through 48 hours…low…20 percent.
    * Formation chance through 5 days…low…20 percent.

    While areas around the southern tip may see some afternoon thunderstorms, be thankful for the reprieve from any serious tropical storm threat over the last several days but experience has taught us that may not last much longer as we head into the latter part of August.

    Take this opportunity to go over your hurricane prep check lists, refill or replace any outdated or consumed items and take a tour around your property to check for any possible hazards that will be need to be addressed before the next major storm system moves in.

    It’s also a good time to check on the location and status of local emergency shelters and while you’re at, remind your neighbors to go over their prep lists as well.

    We are spending the day with family in San Bernadino this weekend and it’s going to be another scorcher today. The A/C has been on all morning. Wish we were down in Ensenada or anywhere along the Pacific coastline instead. Thanks and enjoy your weekend Ron.
