Deep Sea Fishing & The Freshest Ceviche EVER!!!
When speaking to locals in Zihuantanejo, I was regularly told that Hiram aka “Hawaiiano” is the man you want to fish with. Little did I know that his family also has a restaurant on Playas Gatos that is only reachable by boat.
I meet Hawaiiano at the crack of dawn with puffy eyes, and maybe a little tequila hangover, and we head out to sea. Hawaiiano is a local legend and also a multi-time Mexico National Surfing Champion. However, and more importantly, he is such a good man and you can tell his heart is filled with the joy of showing folks like me all that his slice of the ocean has to offer.
The fishing was awesome, but the fun & food after the fishing was the best part. We head back to the family’s restaurant, he gives me some lessons on making ceviche, and then we get down on some yumminess.
I can safely say there is no better way to experience fresh fish than this. If you make it to Zihuatanejo I will guarantee that you will not be disappointed with a day on the water with Hawaiiano…. and the drinks and food back at the “island” is soooo “off the hook”.

Nope. Near Acapulco on the mainland.

It’s Zihuatanejo. About 6 hours north of Acapulco. You can fly in direct from TJ, La Paz or Cabo. So awesome down there.
