That area gets pretty hot during the summer months and with that elevation climb could make for a very long day IMHO, even for better than average hikers. Would be much better in spring or late fall. If you want a nice trail for summer time, my wife and I hiked a trail that was suggested to us that takes off near the Mex3 – Libramiento connection and heads up behind Sauzal with a nice view and a refreshing Pacific breeze. I drew it out for you as best as I can remember but you will find that it’s very easy to follow once there.
