New User? How to get started…
First of all… Welcome aboard!
We hope you find this site a useful and informative tool as we have invested a lot of time and effort into ensuring this site to be user friendly as well as functional across multiple platforms; on your phone, desktop PC and tablet.
Update Profile and Add a Profile Image
While you spend some time checking out and becoming familiar with the website, we strongly recommend you go to your user profile page that is reached by the drop down menu accessible via the image icon at the upper right corner.
From there you can update your profile with as little as or as much information as you feel comfortable in sharing as well as adjust your contact and privacy settings while using this website.
And while on your profile page we also suggest you upload a profile image and cover photo to your profile.
Your profile image will appear, representing you on any threads or replies you make in our discussion forum and your cover image is exactly like what you see in social media; a large, hi resolution, elongated image that will appear at the top of your profile page.
Groups vs Forums
There are currently 35 News Groups here on Talk Baja covering a wide variety of Baja related topics. As a new member, you are automatically subscribed to all of the groups by default and over time – as you decide which topics interest you – may unsubscribe from any group, with the option remaining to subscribe back to any groups you left, at any time, if you should choose to do so.
Each News Group has its own, dedicated and completely independent discussion forum attached to the group where members may participate in the discussions, post, commenting and uploading videos, photos and documents. When clicking on Forum Activity, Members can view the latest forum activity in their subscribed News Groups.
You may also subscribe to individual forum discussion posts that interest you to receive a notification of any new activity in that discussion.
Before posting or commenting, we require that all members read and familiarize themselves with our posting rules:
So now what?
A great place to dive in and get started would be to post an introduction thread in our news group designed just for that purpose, telling us a little bit about yourself so we can get to know something about you and your connections to Baja Mexico.
Simply click on “New Discussion” to begin creating your introduction.
To access the various post formatting options located via the menu at the lower left of the posting box, simply click on the Aa menu item to switch back and forth between the two post formatting menus that include photo, video and document uploading as well as font styling, list formatting, adding hyperlinked text and smiley icons to your post or replies.
The photo / video upload tool is easy to use and simply click to open an upload window on your phone, tablet or PC and choose the image/video file(s) you wish to add to your post (up to 10 files per upload), much as you do today on social media.
When finished and ready to make your first post go live, simply click on the POST button at the bottom.
Feel free to create a new discussion thread in this Site Support group if you have any related questions on using the website, discussion forums, posting, photo uploading, etc.
