Young boy from US killed by Trophy Truck in Norra 500 Rally
ENSENADA – A young boy (either 8 or 9 yo) and US citizen was killed and three people were injured during an accident that occurred yesterday morning on the Ojos Negros highway at km 13. A Trophy Truck who was participating in the Norra 500 Rally race and collided with a Dodge RAM pickup, traveling in the opposite direction.
It was reported that the Trophy Truck had a mechanical breakdown according to its driver – possibly with its suspension – and hit the Dodge pickup on its side, killing the young boy and injuring three others.

How awful! Did they accidentally drive onto the race course?

The articles said it was on the Ensenada – Ojos Negro Highway. The Norra event was a rally style event and they will use sections of the highway at times.

It’s difficult to determine what the real facts are in this story. I have read conflicting versions with some saying they was 8 and other say he was 9 years old. Some articles say the vehicle hit was traveling on the highway and others say it was parked. Some say it was a chase vehicle and others say they were just spectators. Could have been driver error, failed breaks or even suspension, depending on which story you believe.
What a mess.

The deafening silence I am hearing right now is from Norra. Where are they in all of this and why haven’t they come out with some kind of statement?

I have been looking for a statement from NORRA about the child’s death every day but NOTHING! Don’t they understand how people interpret their silence and how bad this looks for them?

I know the boy’s family personally. He was 10 yrs old and his name was Parker. His dad was badly injured and in a local hospital for several days but is headed home to Colorado soon. As you would imagine, he is destroyed over the loss of his son. I was told that NORRA covered his hospital bill.

Thank you for updating us, so sorry to hear of the loss of such a young man. He was probably feeling like he was on top of the world, enjoying a great adventure far from home with his dad and then in an instant his life was taken from him.
Truly the definition of tragic.

Thank you for your kindness about the loss of Parker. I do know the family. So many other sites have said such awful things about how the accident happened, who was at fault, and blaming the parents, blaming the driver etc. How heartbreaking to read these things and how people can be so cruel. Because at the end of the day a young boy that was taking his first father and son trip that was excited to be there with his dad, lost his life and his dad was badly hurt and an Uncle that will have to live with this the rest of his life. Usually it was Parkers older brorher that would go but decided not to go this time. This has been such a tragedy and it changed many lives that will never be the same again. It was a tragic accident nothing more and nothing less. My heart truly goes out to his dad (please don’t blame yourself your a good dad and so many people know this and take time to heal) and the whole family my heart hurts for all of you. I pray God comforts you all during this awful time and you all are in our thoughts and prayers. RIP Parker!

Do you have any more info on what actually happened? Part of the problem seems to be that no one is clearly explaining what happened.
