I saw an interview with Oprah and she said she didn’t think her show would have been such a big hit if it had launched today, much for the very same reason you just mentioned. My wife is hooked on TicToc and I keep threatening her that I will throw away her phone. She can spend hours and hours watching 1 or 2 minute videos.
