Gonzaga Bay is hurting…

Pemex gasoline deliveries work off of planned schedules and when demand suddenly increases at any particular station, they are likely to run out of fuel long before any fuel trucks return to resupply

And that’s especially true for remote stops like Gonzaga where locals have no fuel to buy and it’s really hurting the sportfishing charters, who rely on the Gonzaga Pemex to keep their operations running.

They have asked me to put out a request to travelers to plan their journeys on the 5 right now to purchase gas either north in San Felipe or further south on the Transpeninsular.

I would really appreciate your support!

We returned from a journey down to Conception Bay a couple of weeks ago and the number of RV rigs, etc., was amazing! Even in San Felipe there was a gathering of 53 rigs at Victor’s. The road down and back to Conception was super busy with all forms of caravans with some numbering up to twenty and motorcycle riders with dozens in a group. Our rig holds 73 gallons of fuel and times the number of travelers we saw it is no surprise gas is in short supply. And as many get out before the Easter crowds show up….

Friends passed through yesterday and Gonzaga had gas. They were allowed to fuel up but not fill any extra containers, so it appears that at least some level of rationing is going on.

Gonzaga should limit sales of fuel to northbound travelers to 50 liters or less. They can get fuel in San Felipe where it’s much more likely to be available.

Just talked to a client who stopped for gas in Gonzaga coming back from Loreto and there were 2 different pickup trucks there at the station, filling up along with lots of 5 gallon fuel containers they carried in the back. At this rate, won’t be long until we hear they are out of fuel again.

And now with the border area price hike, even more people heading northbound will be buying gas in Gonzaga and San Felipe
