Unfortunately I can not offer you a solution with zero cost but I would strongly suggest you contact an independent customs agency in Cabo, explain the situation and they can help you get it through the cheapest way possible. The AMLO administration has really been clamping down on this and their current policies on donated items is bordering on ridiculous right now IMHO.

Update on “Operation Bag Retrieval”

Recently received this message from one of our clinic volunteers:

Got them yesterday- no $$ given. Long story but it worked out. I’ll say Hi for to the gang you 👍🏼

So I haven’t yet got the “Long story” but it sounds like the letters I had sent Garth worked. He didn’t have to pay any taxes. Yay!!!

My experience over the years is that when no money is paid to get something done it is more often than not a well placed political connection vs letters, but I could be wrong.

Glad to hear they got to their well needed destination and kudos to you for the time and effort you invested.

This is exactly how we should all be giving back down there, each in our own way with what resources we have available,

But a good political copntact armed with some really good letters can often get things done even faster, as long as those letters are shown to the right people. So who knows exactly what worked but you’re right, kudos for getting this done!
