San Felipe/Mikes Sky Rancho dirt bike trail rides.
Looking for some good dirt bike trail rides around San Felipe/Mike’s Sky Rancho. Any recommendations? I found an Enduro/MC trail on the internet that heads southeast from Mikes. It is rated “very difficult” and is called the “trail of tears.” Sounds/looks ominous. Does anybody have any experience with it?

That is very doable on a dirt bike but I suggest you take that section early in the day and not later as you will need the energy. It will beat you down a bit. Also, travel in a group with somebody who has already been, as many of those trails today have locked gates but there are ways to get around them if you are with someone who knows where they are going.

@graybear – I haven’t done the Trail of Tears run in awhile but it definitely is for very experienced riders and I agree with the suggestion of riding in a larger group (more than 3) with at least one of them having made the run before. It’s grueling and falls, mechanical breakdowns and even injuries are common. Especially among less experienced riders.
Last time I went that route there were only a few unlocked gates but fellow riders tell me that the number of locked gates is increasing.
@BajaGringo can probably explain to you the problem and the reasons behind the increasing number locked gates better than I.
