There is no simple answer to that except to say – it depends. Following the Pacific coastline south from Playas de Tijuana down to Cabo San Lucas, the daytime high temperature increase is not linear and varies based on several conditions including the coastal topography, proximity to desert areas, wind patterns, ocean currents, etc.

For example, the daytime high temps here in the San Quintin Valley – which is not on the coast and lies about 15 miles inland – on average are consistently quite close to Guerrero Negro, about 350 km as the bird flies south yet there are coastal areas much hotter in between, especially in the southern Seven Sisters area.

Bahia Magdalena averages just slightly warmer than Guerrero Negro yet if on the same day you stop at San Juanico (Scorpion Bay) it is not uncommon to find the afternoon temperatures as much as 10 or 12 degrees hotter (°F).

So it all depends on where exactly you compare to but the overall trend heading south is temperatures increasing all the way to the equator.
