Weather Summary for the Baja California Peninsula
    Saturday September 10, 2022

Kay is now a remnant tropical depression heading southwest out into the Pacific but leaves behind a trail of storm damage and heavy flooding that actually could have been much worse.

There was a relatively small patch of cooler water approximately 500 miles south-southwest of Cabo and Kay passed directly over, slowing down the hurricane at a key time in which she was strengthening for about 4 to 5 hours, just enough to prevent her from becoming a much more powerful hurricane that could have caused considerable more damage along that track she followed all the way up well past the 30th parallel.

That may not be much consolation right now to some of us who were seriously affected by this storm but all in all, I think we should all count our blessings today.

There are reports of some arroyos still flowing as well as work underway to repair sections of highway that were damaged / cutoff during this storm.

If you must drive today, do so with extreme caution!

Outer bands that separated when Kay broke down early yesterday will continue to bring some clouds and sporadic showers with some remnant wind gusts areas of the northern down to central regions of the peninsula today.

It looks like another system is forming that could also follow a line towards Baja
