Weather Summary for the Baja California Peninsula

Hurricane Orlene upgraded from a troopical storm overnight and continues to move northwest. The models are all coming into much better agreement on her general trajectory for the next 24 hours although some important differences remain; the GFS model is predicting for Orlene to make a significant impact along the north side of the Puerto Vallarta area and projects that impact to seriously degrade the storm system into a remnant depression.
The European model is forecasting for Orlene to have minimal direct impact with land around Puerto Vallarta and while her heavy winds and rain could stil cause significant damage to that area, the model predicts that Orlene will retain much of her spin organization and strength, continuing to move north and make landfall over Sinaloa.
That path forecast by the European model would likely cause a stronger surge and bring even heavier surf and rip current conditions to the southern Baja coastline as well as the possibility of rainfall from her outer bands.

Today’s High Temperatures
Along the Baja Pacific side today, expect for afternoon temperatures reaching up to 76 degrees around Ensenada, 78 in San Quintin, 79 in Guerrero Negro and up to 87 today around the Todos Santos area.
Down Baja’s gulf coastline this afternoon the high temps should reach up to 90 degrees for San Felipe, 91 in Bahia de Los Angeles, 92 in Mulege, 93 in Loreto and up to 96 in La Paz.
The Cabo San Lucas area should see up to a maximum of 87 degrees under partly to mostly sunny skies with an onshore breeze from the west-southwest later this afternoon.
