La Paz, Baja California Sur (BCS). During a press conference earlier today, the state Attorney General, Daniel de la Rosa Anaya, shared the news that the body of a missing U.S. citizen was found in an unmarked grave.
The body was identified as Wilmer “Dean” Trivett, an 80-year-old man from California who was last seen on the evening of February 11th in the Todos Santos area of Baja California Sur, Mexico.

Trivett was a seasoned Baja veteran and was camping in the Todos Santos area in his RV with his dog “Bones.”
He was reported missing in mid February and friends immediately suspected something was wrong when they found his dog wandering around the campground by himself. Approximately a week later, his RV was found completely burned to the ground, however with no sign of Trevitt.
The news of his disappearance was widely shared on social media and several searches were conducted to locate the missing man by the authorities as well as family and friends.
His body would later be found with the aid of a cadaver dog, buried in a clandestine, unmarked grave.
As a result of the investigation, a man and a woman were arrested in connection with his murder. The two have been arraigned and both are awaiting trial on the charge of aggravated murder.
De la Rosa went on to share additional details surrounding the events that lead up to his murder, which appeared to start with a traffic accident.

Based on what the detectives in the investigation learned, Trivett apparently struck one of his attackers by accident with his vehicle in Todos Santos several months ago and would give the man 50,000 pesos as compensation for his medical care and other related expenses.
The months passed by however and the man became frustrated, believing that Trivett had not compensated him fairly for his injuries. At some point in early to mid February, he along with another woman – now believed to be his sister – would go to the campground where Trivett was staying.
What transpired during that confrontation is not clear right now, but the investigation uncovered information that they would eventually kidnap and murder Trevitt, later disposing of his body in an unmarked grave near km 39.5 of the La Paz-Todos Santos highway.

I didn’t know him well, but I would acknowledge Him on the streets of Markleeville. May the Lord keep his soul. He didn’t deserve this ending.
So Greedy & CRUEL!! 🤬
maybe he should have paid them a reasonable amount for Injuries and damage. No idea what at the extent of the damages were or the injuries. Why do you assume that THEY are the ones that are greedy?
They MURDERED a man for more money after he paid them $2,500 and you dare say they possibly weren’t greedy, that it was the MURDERED VICTIM who was greedy??
If they really suffered serious damages/ injuries , they should have gone to the police or gone through insurance (if they had insirance).
Abduction and Kidnapping are common practice in Mexico, especially preying upon Gringo tourists. Disgusting, evil terrorists.
I wonder if they would have murdered him if he were a local Mexican neighbor, and not an American gringo.
You p.o.s
You are a kook! Killing some one….. really
This is such a terribly sad story. My condolences to the friend and family of Dean.
I hope someone is taking care of his sweet dog?
Yes one of our good friends in markleeville is caring for her.
They made a deal and apparently the deal was not good enough,!I hope they both rott in Jail.
RIP Dean
Does anyone know if there has been a conviction in this case? I know that a couple of years previous to this awful murder that Dean had been in an accident. I ran in to him at the hot springs at El Chorro and he told me that he had been parked in “Vaca Loca” and a guy in a quad had jumped over a dune and crashed into the side of his vehicle. As is the custom in Mexico, the police took him to the local jail until his insurance adjuster arrived. The adjustor advised him that he needed to sign a form accepting blame for the accident because the man had no insurance and someone had to pay for the medical bills but that there would be no legal consequences for him. There were a few more colourful details to the story but I’ll keep them to myself for the time being.
Dean was a lovely older gentleman and a shameless flirt with the ladies. May he rest in peace.
There hasn’t been a conviction yet. I spoke with his brother recently and he told me that they are still having hearings with the accused. Apparently they are saying that they were coerced into doing it, then said that it was self-defense, then they said that they didn’t mean to kill him. TOTAL BS
