Daily Weather Report
Updated: Friday 30MAY2025 5:30AM PDTÂ
Tropical Storm Alvin is approximately 500 miles south-southeast of Cabo San Lucas and is moving north-northwest at 9 kt with maximum sustained winds of 45 kt with gusts to 55 kt.
The latest satellite imagery shows that dry air has begin to intrude into the system with the banding features becoming less defined in appearance and with multiple gaps in the convection. As a result, Alvin will gradually weaken as it continues moving north with projected maximum sustained winds of 35 kt and gusts to 45 kt by late tonight, further weakening to a remnant low a few hundred miles south of Baja’s southern tip by Saturday afternoon with maximum sustained winds 30 kt and gusts of 40 kt.
Swells generated by Alvin will affect the shoreline along the southern Baja California Peninsula during the next couple of days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions in areas.
High atmospheric pressure will continue to reside across offshore west of the peninsula supporting moderate to locally fresh NW winds along with moderate seas through early this afternoon. These winds diminish to light to gentle speeds beginning this evening as the pressure gradient relaxes offshore Baja California.
Light to gentle winds are expected across the northern Gulf of California today with gentle to moderate winds expected for the central and southern Gulf regions, increasing to moderate to fresh just outside of the Gulf inlet this afternoon.
Expect for a bit more sunshine across the northern regions of the peninsula today as the marine layer offshore begins to thin out, producing slightly warmer temperatures this afternoon.
Mostly clear and sunny conditions across the central regions of the peninsula today and as the day progresses, increasing clouds will cover the skies south of 25N from outer bands of Tropical Storm Alvin, bringing higher humidity levels and a chance of light rain beginning this afternoon from the monsoonal moisture forecast to move across Baja’s southern regions.Â
